After the Danish Tree-Athlon (report coming soon) is before the next Tree-Athlon. I took the ferry from Grenaa in Denmark to Halmstad in Sweden 5 days ago. At Halmstad I jumped on the saddle of of my Albatros and I am currently cycling about 1,800 km to Lulea in the North of Sweden. I will make a running stop here and there on the way to generate more seedlings for my Activity Forest.

In Lulea I will say goodbye to my Albatros bike and leave it at my friend’s (Nik) place, just like last year during my first Tree-Athlon. However, Nik’ s parents will take it back for me to Hamburg, where I will pass through three months later. From Lulea I will run to the Northern tip of Europe, the North Cape in Norway. As there is no way further North on land, I will turn around and run South along the Norwegian West Coast. Along the coast through Norwegian fjords, the traditional Hurtigruten ship delivers the post to the small villages and towns and I am considering taking the ship for a little stretch to experience this stunning landscape from the water. My goal is to reach Oslo eventually and take the ferry back to Denmark, where I will cross the entire country on the Haervejen trail to Husum in Germany. Husum is the starting point of the Race across Germany from the North to the Zugspitze in the South (1,300 km). I will be doing the course marking for the race. This means that I will get up two hours before the runners and mark the way while running. This run will also go via Hamburg, where I will pick up my beloved Albatros. From now on, I will have the option to mark the trail on foot or give my legs some rest and cycle. Because after the Race across Germany I am planning to ride to Bucharest, where the 24-Hour World Championships will take place on the 2nd of October and I think my legs might need some rest before. In my opinion, the 24-Hour World Champs are a worthy finish to this Tree-Athlon and I will slowly make my way back to Germany to meet you all for our Tree-Athlete tree planting camp and if you are interested, I can tell you all about this Tree-Athlon there.

A recap of my time as a Tree-Athlete in Denmark will follow very soon. Happy days and see you at the Tree-Athlete tree planting.
